Abstract

Delightful Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd (DBKL) faces a storm of protests after netizens call for their goods to be boycotted. The boycott started by blaming Mr Alauddin of being a crooked crony of certain political leaders, charging that he had followed orders to stop DBKL's purchase of flour on racial grounds alone. This case study aims to discuss political and racial cronyism and the impact on the production rate at Delightful Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd. The main technique that has been used to gather the response and perspective of respondents is semi-structured interview. The analysis showed practice of cronyism does have high effect on production rate. On this basis, it is recommended to introduce an effective strategy to improves the production rate at Delightful  Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd.

Heramban Selvam , Faculty of Industrial Management, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia

Heramban Selvam is an undergraduate student in Bachelor of Industrial Technology Management with Hons in Faculty of Industrial Management at University Malaysia Pahang. He graduated from Kolej Tingkatan Enam Sri Istana, Klang, with a Malaysia Higher School Certification in Social Science study. In the Faculty of Industrial Management, he had served as the Honorary Secretary of Industrial Management Professional Student Society (IMPRESS). He had gained leadership qualities and experience in the AIESEC as a Director of Customer Experience (Outgoing Global Volunteer) for 7 months and during his studies at University Malaysia Pahang, he also contributing as Head of Department Student Activity Development and Economics in Residential College 4. Currently, he became a Model United Nations representing Germany to highlight health issues under World Health Organization. His research interests are Technology Management and Youth Leadership. Puteri Fadzline bt Muhamad Tamyez is currently the Deputy Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies in Faculty of Industrial Management, Universiti Malaysia Pahang. She graduated from Universiti Technology MARA, Shah Alam, with a PhD in Business Management and from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang with BSc and MSc degrees in Bioresources, Paper and Coating Technology under the School of Industrial Technology. Prior to Universiti Malaysia Pahang, she had accumulated industrial experiences in the furniture and wood flooring industry for 4 years.
