AIMS AND SCOPE

Aims
The Journal of Governance and Integrity (JGI) is dedicated to advancing rigorous, evidence-based studies exploring the formulation, implementation, and sustainability of governance and integrity within organisations. The intellectual mission is to advance the theory and practice of ethical, transparent, and accountable management of the organisation. This is achieved by examining the influence of governance mechanisms and integrity systems on decision-making processes, risk mitigation, and outcome enhancement at both the organisational and societal levels. The JGI serves as a reliable platform that integrates rigorous academic research with practical management, thereby enhancing institutional governance for researchers, educators and practitioners.

Scope
The JGI publishes original research, systematic reviews, and evidence-based case studies that significantly advance the scholarly understanding of governance and integrity across organisational, business, and institutional environments. Research submissions should prioritise governance or integrity mechanisms, such as accountability, transparency, ethics, compliance, or control, as the core element of the research question. The journal seeks submissions that encompass conceptual, empirical (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods), and policy-focused research within the domains of management, business, and organisational social sciences.

The Journal of Governance and Integrity (JGI) focuses on four distinct areas within the domains of governance and integrity, rather than covering all aspects of these fields:
i) Corporate Governance and Accountability
Accountability structures; Board effectiveness; Controls; Corporate governance; Disclosure; Ownership; Regulatory compliance; Reporting; Transparency 
ii) Business Ethics and Integrity Systems
Anti-corruption mechanisms; Business ethics, Ethics in business and finance; Integrity systems; Shariah governance;
iii) Risk, Operations and Supply Chain Governance
Enterprise; Governance of supply chains; Operational risk governance; Procurement and operations; Resilience
iv) Governance of Sustainability, Public Institutions and Technology
Corporate social responsibility governance; Data use in organisations; ESG; Ethical and integrity dimensions of technology; Public sector, project; Public–private partnership governance; Sustainability

Article types
The JGI publishes four distinct article types, with comprehensive submission guidelines provided in the Guide for Authors.
Original Research Articles: These articles present comprehensive empirical or conceptual studies that offer original contributions to the field.
Review Articles: These articles provide systematic and structured critical syntheses of topics related to governance or integrity.
Case Studies: These involve evidence-based analyses of governance or integrity practices in real-world organisational contexts, employing explicit methodologies to extract generalisable lessons.
Perspectives: These are succinct and well-reasoned commentaries that address emerging issues in governance and integrity.

Out of scope
The JGI maintains a distinct identity by excluding certain types of submissions. The JGI does not accept submissions that do not prioritise governance. This includes technical work such as cybersecurity engineering, IoT, data analytics algorithms, and engineering design, where governance is not a central theme in the research. Additionally, studies in general management or economics that lack contributions to governance or integrity, descriptive essays without methodological support or evidence, and manuscripts with superficial connections to governance are excluded from consideration. Submissions that fall outside this scope or meet any of the aforementioned exclusion criteria are returned without review.
