Abstract

Kurikulum adalah salah satu elemen terpenting dalam acuan pendidikan bagi sesebuah komuniti. Kurikulum menjadi prinsip dan prosedur bagi perencanaan, implementasi, evaluasi dan pengelolaan suatu rancang-bangun sesuatu program pendidikan. Namun demikian, dalam misi untuk mengantarabangsakan bahasa Melayu melalui sektor pendidikan di Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, penyusunan kurikulum pengajaran dan pembelajaran Asas Bahasa Melayu masih memerlukan penambahbaikan. Antara  permasalahan yang dikenal pasti ialah  kaedah pengajaran tidak mengikut aras yang menjadi faktor masalah pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Justeru, kajian  ini dijalankan untuk membina semula kurikulum Asas Bahasa Melayu di Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris bagi mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Model Taba dipilih kerana rekabentuk kaedah pengajarannya berdasarkan autonomi guru berbanding dengan lima model kurikulum yang lain. Kajian ini dijalankan dengan tujuan untuk menganalisis kapasiti  kurikulum yang dibina berdasarkan pandangan pakar dalam pembentukan kemahiran berbahasa individu melalui instrumen temu bual semi berstruktur. Pembinaan kurikulum dilakukan dengan mengambil kira pandangan tokoh, pakar atau pengamal kurikulum asas Bahasa Melayu.Teknik Delphi digunakan bagi mendapatkan data. Perbincangan turut menganalisis kurikulum sedia ada dengan kurikulum Universiti Swasta dan MQA melalui teknik analisis dokumen. Dapatan kajian mendapati jangka masa 2-3 jam diperlukan bagi sesuatu sesi pengajaran. Dapatan juga mendapati, apa-apa sahaja pendekatan pengajaran boleh digunakan asalkan sesuai dengan keperluan pelajar.

 

RECONSTRUCTION OF BASIC MALAY LANGUAGE CURRICULUM FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN UNIVERSITI PENDIDIKAN SULTAN IDRIS 

The curriculum is one of the most important elements in the education mold for a community. The curriculum is the principle and procedure of planning, implementation, evaluation and managing the design of an educational program. However, in the mission to internationalise the Malay language through the education sector at UniversitiPendidikan Sultan Idris, the preparation of the Malay Language Basic teaching and learning curriculum still needs improvement. Among the problems identified is the non-conforming teaching method which is a determinant factor in teaching and learning. Therefore, this study was conducted to rebuild the Malay Language Basic curriculum at UniversitiPendidikan Sultan Idris to address the stated problem. The Taba model was chosen because the design of the teaching method was based on the autonomy of the teacher compared to the other five curriculum models. This study was conducted with the aim of analysing the curriculum capacity constructed based on expert's views on the development of individual language skills through semi structured interview instrument. The curriculum development is doneby considering the views from notable figures, experts or practitioners of basic Malay curriculum. The Delphi technique is utilized to obtain the data. Discussions also analyze the existing curriculum further compared with private universities and Malaysian Qualification Agencies (MQA) curriculum by using document analysis techniques. Findingsshowthat 2-3 hours is required for a teaching session. Findings also indicate that any suitable teaching approach that suitable with students' needs can be used.
