About the Journal
The International Journal of Software Engineering and Computer Systems (IJSECS), ISSN: 2289-8522 (Print) | 2180-0650 (Online), is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Press (UMPSA Press) under the Faculty of Computing. As a non-profit scholarly publication, IJSECS strives to facilitate the free flow of scientific knowledge and provide a high-quality venue for the global computing community to publish significant discoveries, methodological innovations, and technological advancements.
IJSECS aims to publish high-quality, original research that addresses both foundational and emerging challenges in software engineering, computer systems, soft computing, and intelligent systems. The journal bridges theoretical insight with practical application by promoting innovation, cross-disciplinary dialogue, and reproducible, real-world impact. Emphasis is placed on methodologically rigorous contributions that advance both the theoretical foundations and the applied deployment of modern computing systems. IJSECS serves academic researchers, industry practitioners, and postgraduate scholars who seek to publish and access high-impact work at the intersection of software engineering, computer systems, and computational intelligence. By concentrating on these interrelated domains, IJSECS publishes cutting-edge research that advances next-generation software and computing systems, supports sustainable digital innovation, and bridges the gap between fundamental investigation and scalable, deployable technology.
To safeguard academic excellence, scientific integrity, and reproducibility, all submissions undergo a thorough, independent, and unbiased peer-review process conducted by qualified experts in the relevant field. Manuscripts are first subject to an editorial desk assessment for scope, originality, and adherence to submission standards, followed by external review; editorial decisions are informed solely by the scientific merit, rigour, and significance of the work. To enrich scholarly discourse, IJSECS welcomes a range of manuscript types, including original full-length research articles reporting significant, empirically validated findings; review articles that critically synthesise the existing literature, identify key knowledge gaps, and articulate authoritative future research directions; and technical case studies that convey practical insights of value to the applied computing community.
IJSECS is dedicated to promoting open scientific exchange. With the support of UMPSA Press, the journal operates under a fully open-access model: all published content is freely available to readers and their institutions immediately upon publication. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts; crawl them for indexing, pass them to software as data; or use them for any other lawful purpose without prior permission from the publisher or the authors, subject to appropriate attribution under the applicable Creative Commons license. This policy removes financial, legal, and technical barriers to scholarship, enhancing the visibility, reach, and citation impact of authors' work while serving the global research community.
IJSECS adheres to internationally recognised standards of publication ethics and malpractice, aligned with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All submissions are screened for originality using established similarity-detection tools, and the journal maintains clear policies on authorship, conflicts of interest, data availability, corrections and retractions, and the responsible disclosure of generative-AI use. Digital preservation and persistent identification (DOI assignment) ensure the long-term accessibility and integrity of the scholarly record.
