AIMS AND SCOPE

The International Journal of Software Engineering and Computer Systems (IJSECS) publishes rigorous, original, and reproducible research that bridges foundational theory and deployable innovation across computing.  The journal's role is to connect foundational research with practical innovation by linking formal and empirical approaches to real-world, software-heavy, networked, and intelligent systems. It also aims to be an open, equitable record of methodologically rigorous advances in these areas.
 
IJSECS covers three defined scope, not "all aspects of" computing:

  • Software engineering and software systems: Requirements engineering, software architecture, quality assurance and reliability, usability, process efficiency, architectural evolution and empirical and formal methods, including software support for Industry 4.0.
  • Computer systems, networks and communications: Wireless sensor, optical, and social networks; operating systems and cyber-physical systems; IoT and cloud computing; hardware and system architecture; blockchain; information systems; and information security and digital forensics.
  • Soft computing and intelligent systems: Computational intelligence and metaheuristic optimisation, machine and deep learning, decision-support systems, natural language processing, robotics, computer vision and pattern recognition, and signal processing.

IJSECS serves an international community of academic researchers in software engineering, computer systems and networks, and artificial intelligence; industry practitioners and R&D engineers working on software-intensive, cyber-physical, and data-driven systems; Computing educators developing and evaluating computer-based educational technologies; and postgraduate scholars seeking a rigorous, open-access venue for foundational and applied computing research.

The journal accepts the following contribution types: original research articles presenting significant, validated, and reproducible findings; systematic and critical review articles featuring explicit protocols, taxonomies, identified research gaps, and future directions; methodological papers proposing new algorithms, frameworks, protocols, or evaluation methods with advantages over existing baselines; technical case studies offering applied insights and lessons learned; and short communications providing brief reports of novel, timely, and self-contained results.

IJSECS does not consider manuscripts lacking a substantive computing contribution, purely mathematical results without algorithmic realisation, hardware or device papers without a systems dimension, tool-application studies without methodological novelty, or narrative surveys without critical synthesis.
