The notion of spiritual intelligence was first introduced by Western scholars and has since garnered significant attention among Muslim scholars, who sought to assess its relevance within the framework of Islamic thought. This article critically examines and compares the concept of spiritual intelligence from both Islamic and Western perspectives. Adopting a content analysis approach, the study reviews selected scholarly works that discuss the construct of spiritual intelligence. The findings indicate that while there are certain converging elements between the two perspectives, the Islamic understanding of spiritual intelligence provides a more solid and holistic foundation of spirituality. This foundation is derived from revealed knowledge and firmly rooted in the principle of tawhid. The study further proposes the development of a conceptual framework for spiritual intelligence grounded in Islamic teachings as a basis for designing a Spiritual Intelligence Module for preachers. A comprehensive understanding of this concept is deemed essential to ensure the formulation of effective, relevant, and contextually appropriate module content that addresses the contemporary needs of da‘wah in Malaysia.
