AIMS AND SCOPE

Aims
The International Journal of Humanities, Technology and Civilization (IJHTC) is committed to promoting rigorous, evidence-based research concerning the human, cultural, and civilizational aspects of technological and social transformations.​ Its primary aim is to deepen understanding of the reciprocal influence among technology, modernity, human values, education, culture, and social institutions. This is achieved through an analysis of the interaction between technology and ethics, society, education, human development, and cultural heritage, at both the organisational and societal levels. IJHTC is relevant to emerging and Global South societies. It provides a platform for researchers, educators, and practitioners to integrate humanities and social science research with the realities of the technological era.

​Scope
IJHTC disseminates original research, systematic and critical reviews, and evidence-based case studies that substantially enhance scholarly comprehension of technology, society, and civilization. Research submissions should emphasise the human, ethical, or civilizational dimensions of technological or social change as the core focus. The journal invites submissions that are conceptual or empirical- whether quantitative, qualitative, or employing mixed methods- and policy-oriented, spanning the humanities and social sciences.

The International Journal of Humanities, Technology and Civilization (IJHTC) concentrates on three distinct areas at the interface of technology and the human sciences, rather than covering all aspects of these fields.

Technology, Ethics and Society

Education and Human Development

Article types
The IJHTC publishes four distinct article types, with comprehensive submission guidelines provided in the Guide for Authors.

Original Research Articles: These articles present comprehensive empirical or conceptual studies that make an original contribution to the human, ethical, or civilisational understanding of technological and social change.
Review Articles: These articles provide systematic and structured critical syntheses of topics at the interface of technology, society, and civilisation.
Case Studies: These involve evidence-based analyses of technology-and-society practices in real-world institutional or community contexts, employing explicit methodologies to extract generalisable lessons.
Perspectives: These are succinct, well-reasoned, and rigorously argued commentaries that address emerging issues at the interface of technology and human sciences.

Out of scope
The IJHTC maintains a distinct identity by excluding certain types of submissions from consideration. The journal does not accept submissions that do not prioritise the human, ethical, or civilisational dimensions of technological and social change. This includes purely technical or computational work, such as engineering design, cybersecurity engineering, IoT, and algorithm or data-analytics development, where the human or civilisational dimension is not a central theme. Additionally, we excluded general humanities or social-science studies (in education, management, economics, history, or related fields) that do not contribute to understanding technological or civilisational change, descriptive essays without methodological support or evidence, and manuscripts with only a superficial connection to the journal's field. Submissions that fall outside this scope or meet any of the aforementioned exclusion criteria are returned without review.
