PENGGUNAAN EASY LEARNING KIT (ELK): REFRIGERATOR SYSTEM BAGI PELAJAR SIJIL TEKNOLOGI PENYEJUKAN DAN PENYAMANAN UDARA (SPU) DI KOLEJ KOMUNITI HULU LANGAT (KKHL)

Application of Easy Learning Kit (ELK): Refrigeration System for Student Undertaking Certification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning at Hulu Langat Community Collage

Abstract

The application of innovation of Teaching Aids (ABM) in the teaching and learning process is importance in education nowadays. This is to ensure the delivery of information are well delivered to the students, clearly and systematically. Thus, an innovative product, Easy Learning Kit (ELK): Refrigerator System is designed for application in teaching and learning process. This effort is initiated by the  lecturers teaching Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (SPU) at KKHL to benefits their students in understanding the learning process better and more effectively. ELK serves as Teaching Aids as well as a simulation model for learning Domestic Refrigeration Module, used by Semester 2 students. Based on the observation during teaching and learning process, where students were being introduce to operation and components of the refrigerator, it turns out that students were facing difficulties in understanding how the refrigerator works and not able to identify the components of the refrigerator correctly. This study involved 96 students from SPU. The analytical method being used was descriptive and utilized questionnaires that have been distributed to SPU students. Data was analyzed using Microsoft Excel software. It is hoped that through this ELK, students' understanding and mastery of the subject can be improved as well as provide self-learning opportunities for students either inside or outside the lecture.

Pengaplikasian inovasi berbentuk Alat Bantu Mengajar (ABM) dalam proses Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran (PdP) amat penting dalam pendidikan pada masa kini. Ini bagi memastikan penyampaian maklumat berkaitan subjek yang diajar adalah lebih jelas dan sistematik. Justeru, satu produk inovasi iaitu Easy Learning Kit (ELK): Refrigerator System dihasilkan untuk diaplikasikan dalam PdP. Ia merupakan inisiatif pensyarah terhadap pelajar SPU di KKHL untuk memudahkan penyampaian dan meningkatkan kefahaman pelajar. ELK merupakan ABM dan juga model simulasi bagi pembelajaran Modul Penyejukan Domestik untuk pelajar semester 2 bagi program SPU. Hasil pemerhatian mendapati, semasa PdP dijalankan bagi tujuan pengenalan kepada kendalian dan komponen peti sejuk, pelajar kurang faham bagaimana peti sejuk berfungsi dan tidak dapat mengenalpasti komponen-komponen pada peti sejuk. Kajian ini melibatkan seramai 96 orang pelajar SPU. Kaedah analisis yang digunakan berbentuk deskriptif dan menggunakan soal selidik yang telah diedar kepada pelajar SPU. Diharapkan dengan penghasilan produk inovasi ini, kefahaman dan penguasan pelajar terhadap subjek dapat ditingkatkan serta memberi peluang pembelajaran kendiri kepada pelajar sama ada di dalam atau di luar kuliah.
