ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENTS

Journal of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Biotechnology (JCEIB) is committed to ensure that the standards of publication ethics are adhered to, and the publication malpractice is strictly prohibited by all possible measures. It is our commitment to publish original work of value to the intellectual community at the greatest possible standards and in the best possible form. Similar standards and values are also expected from our reviewers and authors. Honesty, originality, fair dealing, fairness, objectivity and confidentiality on the part of authors, reviewers and editors, are among the critical values that enable us to achieve our goal. The committee on publication ethics has established rules of conduct based on the international standards, which JCEIB endorses and follows. JCEIB is dedicated to follow the best practices on ethical matters, errors, and retractions, as well as providing legal review where appropriate.

EDITORIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The editors are responsible to decide on the submitted articles to be published;
  • The editors may discuss with other editors or reviewers in making the decision;
  • The editors are responsible to evaluate submitted manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors;
  • The editors are prohibited to disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate;
  • The editors must ensure a fair and appropriate peer review process;
  • Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used by anyone who has an access to the manuscript to be included in his or her own research without a written consent of the author;
  • The editors must maintain the integrity of the published record by issuing corrections and retractions when needed and pursuing suspected or alleged research and publication misconduct. 

EDITORIAL BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The editorial board must keep the information pertaining to the submitted manuscripts confidential;
  • The editorial board must disclose any conflicts of interest;
  • The editorial board must evaluate manuscripts solely on the basis of their intellectual substance.

REVIEWER’S RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All information regarding the submitted manuscripts should be kept confidential and be treated as privileged information;
  • Reviewers are obliged to conduct the reviews objectively. No personal criticism of the author should be made. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments;
  • Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that had been previously reported elsewhere should be accompanied by the relevant citation;
  • Reviewers should alert the editors for any substantial similarity between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge;
  • Reviewers should inform the editors if it was not possible for them to complete the review of manuscript within the stipulated time;
  • Reviewers must declare conflict of interest by declining to review the manuscripts due to the competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions.

AUTHOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The authors must ensure that the submitted manuscripts are produced based only on the work that has been conducted in an ethical and responsible manner, and that complies with all relevant legislations;
  • The authors should present their results clearly, honestly, without fabrication, falsification or inappropriate data manipulation;
  • The authors should endeavor to describe their methods clearly and unambiguously so that the presented findings can be validated and acknowledged by others;
  • The authors should adhere to the publication requirements and making sure that the submitted work is original, is not plagiarized, and has not been published elsewhere;
  • The authors must certify that the manuscript is not currently being considered for other publication elsewhere;
  • The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and the appropriate citation must be included if the authors have used the work and/or words of others.;
  • The authors should take collective responsibility for the submitted and published work;
  • The submitted manuscript should contain sufficient details and references to permit others to replicate the work. Duplicitous or expressively inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior are unacceptable;
  • Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must be given. All publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work must be cited accordingly;
  • The authors should ensure that the authorship accurately reflects individuals’ contributions to the work and its reporting; and where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged;
  • All relevant funding sources, financial supports and any existing or potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed;
  • If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the authors’ obligation to promptly notify the journal editors and the editor to retract or correct the paper.

PUBLISHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Publisher confirms that journal editors, editorial board members, authors, reviewers, and other stakeholders adopt the best publishing policies and procedures.
  • Publisher strives for a more effective academic communication system for journal governance.
  • Publisher supports the publishing and indexing of all journal articles.
  • Publishers ensure that the Editorial team meets production schedules and completes the work on time.
  • Publisher collaborates with the editor committees to develop journal policies and standards appropriate to the journal.
  • Publisher should verify the publication rights and licensing agreement before publication
  • Publisher working closely with Editor-in-Chief(s) take all necessary steps to clarify or correct any errors in an article where scientific misconduct, fraudulent publishing, or plagiarism is suspected or confirmed.
  • Publisher should be resolved an erratum, clarification, or the retraction of the concerned work promptly.
  • Publisher and Editor-in-Chief must work together to detect and prevent publishing articles that include research misconduct, and they must never promote and enable research misconduct to occur.
  • Publisher and the Journal do not differentiate based on age, color, faith, ethnicity, disability, marital status, veteran status, national origin, race, gender, genetic predisposition or carrier status, or sexual orientation
  • The publisher employs ethics panels to recommend publication misconducts, journal policy and guidelines issues, and ethics periodically.
  • The publisher is responsible for investigating potential publishing misconduct and resolving any situations of alleged publishing malpractice.
  • The publisher is responsible for regularly reviewing and updating the journal's policies.
