Abstract

The use of internet technologies in teaching and learning grow up rapidly. The main vital components in online learning are submitting the student’s assessments and conducting the online exams.  The main challenge in conducting the online exams is ensuring the authentication of the online exam takers. This paper proposes a secure framework using biometrics for online exam takers at Taibah University. The secure framework uses two layers of authentication: the login in user name and password and the student biometric authentication based on iris recognition. Various experiments were done to test the proposed framework.  Testing this framework gives attractive result of 85.5% as recognition rate.
